Not so Little Bear

Little Bear, who is not so small anymore, but not all that Big either has been having a rough time in school. Much of it is social, as it has always been, but up until recently he has been able to progress academically despite the frustrating social aspects. I am noticing more and more that his behavior toward schoolwork is turning negative. He has begun to bring up his desire to be homeschooled more and more again.

I have explained to him that he needs to show me a level of respect in regards to homework, that has not been present as of late, before I am willing to seriously consider it.

Part of me wants to bring him home, today, now, because there is so much about what they do at the school I disagree with. Another part worries my health is not up to it. Though as he gets older this becomes a bit less of an issue (since I can sign him up for online classes, and he can socialize with neighborhood friends without my constant supervision).

This is not a decision I am going to jump into, or make alone. Bear is half of this parenting team, even if he is not the one doing the teaching.

Books 4, 5, and 6

2012 shall be my year of reading. Well of logging my reading. My goal is 52 books, but based on my last month 2 months of kindle reading alone I expect to hit that by April. Between my Kindle and the extensive collection of books in this house I should have no lack of supplies. I shall endeavor to keep a log of the books I read here. Note that none of these are sponsored, just stuff I found interesting enough to read all the way through*. I will not be logging books I start and get bored by, what is the fun in that. And since I find it interesting I will list the format and source.

#3

Someone asked me recently how it is that I finish up so many books back to back. Well, I do read kind of fast, but I also read a number of books at once. Usually one or two sci-fi/fantasy, a classical fiction, and some variety of non-fiction. The classical and non-fiction usually take me about 5 times longer to read then my comfort reading. I actually find short story anthologies take me longer because I am only invested in reading the individual story. When reading a series I can go through a book a day easy.
